How to teach ear sound:

We are going to teach kids the ear sound through 6 steps. Each step will add a lot of fun and liveliness to the learning time. Let’s see together:

1. sound ear story:

An old wise owl with a long beard gathered all animals and talked in a deep voice about a competition to know which animal is so smart and neat. all the animals cheered and were excited to participate in the competition. The owl said four words, only two have the same sound “big, small, gear and ear”. All the animals thought fast to get the answer. “I know…” said the sheep, and all the other animals had to clap for how smart is he. The sound is!!!!

  • Pull the lips to the sides and you get the sound ee.
  • Relax the tongue down and bring the tip of the tongue up to make the light “rrr”.
  • Round your lips a little bit at the end of the “rrr” sound.
  • Don’t blend the “ee” and “rrr” together as they will sound like “er” in teacher.

Use our phonics phase 2 and phase 3 flashcards to practice some pronunciation activities with your kid: 

  • First level: Make combinations of the flashcards below and let the child recognize which letters are making the sound “ear”.
  • Advanced level: Let the child assemble the words below by himself. keep telling him the pronunciation of the word until he can make the combination alone. 

The word the kid should make here is “near”.

Now the kid has to know how to form the latter word from the table using his listening skills and his knowledge of blending.
